THE EVOLUTION OF HUMAN AGGRESSION: Lessons for Today's Conflicts
February 25-27, 2009
This conference highlighted how our evolutionary heritage sets the stage for conflict--and cooperation--in today's society. The first aim is to illustrate how evolutionary approaches can inform our understanding of human violence and the circumstances that shape it. The second aim is to explore the practical implications of this research for addressing problems such as warfare and domestic violence.
Speakers include distinguished scholars from a variety of disciplines, including anthropology, psychology, and biology. The conference will also include a poster session and a roundtable discussion of policies to reduce violence in our own community.
The conference included lively debate, and we encourage public comments.
